CIRCULATE THE PETITION WITH A LOCAL TEAM

California Against Slavery is grassroots and run 100% by volunteers.  We are asking every Californian to step up and help get this initiative on the ballot.

Go into your community as part of a Local CAS Team to gather signatures.  You can volunteer for as many (or as little) days as you want.

STEPS FOR PETITION CIRCULATORS ON A TEAM

STEP 1: If you haven’t done so, register to vote now.  Check your voter status now on your county elections office website.   CAS requires that all Petition Circulators be registered voters because some counties may challenge petitions if the Petition Circulator is not registered to vote, causing delays.

STEP 2: Find a Local Team in your area. An e-mail is provided next to teams that are accepting new members. Send the team an e-mail, providing your name, e-mail, and phone number. Can’t find a team? Fill out the volunteer form.

STEP 3: Watch the Petition Circulator training video. Follow along with the accompanying training text. All Petition Circulators are by law required to complete the Petition Circulator Training.

(Correction to video: Eligible voters need to be 18 years old by the next election, timing varies based on city of residence.  To reduce confusion, CAS asks that all Circulators be registered voters.)

STEP 4: Fill out the Petition Circulator Compliance Agreement and Volunteer Liability Release Form. If you are part of a team, please give it to your Team Lead. Otherwise, please send back to CAS.

STEP 5: Your Team Lead will contact you with timeslots when you can sign up to volunteer. Please feel free to follow up if you do not hear from them as they may have missed your e-mail.

In the meantime, download and circulation the petition among people you know, during your commute, or at your next get-together.

Download a summary of the initiative so you’ll be prepared for questions.
